A Dynamic Duo Takes to the Air

Now you can find Bart Mihailovich and Paul Dillon on the radio, too.
It takes some imagination and two mouse clicks to find the best environmental blog in these parts, but once you’ve gotten there you can see why it’s all but required reading for anyone wanting to stay up on environmental issues, from the back yard to the outer atmosphere of the planet.
Meet Bart Mihailovich and Paul Dillon, the two young journalists and bloggers behind the “Down to Earth” blog that launches from the Spokesman-Review’s website. Earlier this month, while the whole communications staff at the Center for Justice was doing copious field research on Hawaiian coral reefs (looking for signs of ocean acidification, and hoping not to find “Dirty Martinis for Clean Water” cocktail glasses in sensitive environmental areas) Bart and Paul launched their new weekly show on KYRS Radio, FM 92.3 and 89.9.
The broadcast airs Monday at 7 a.m. and we commend you to it. We’re already big fans of their blog work which, this week, is focused in on events half a world a way in Copenhagen, where thousands of mostly young demonstrators have flocked to try to rally the world’s leaders toward committing to meaningful reductions in carbon dioxide emissions to avert catastrophic global warming.
You can be assured Copenhagen will be on the topic list for next week’s show as well as a discussion of the Lands Council’s so-called “Beaver Solution” that argues for cooperating with beavers so that beaver dams can be used as a natural solution to the problem of late summer, early fall low stream flows.
Looking down the road, Bart says they hope to land Riverkeeper Rick Eichstaedt, local writers Paul Haeder and Doug Clark, Futurewise’s Kitty Klitzke, Spokane TILTH’s Brian Estes, and Jace Bylenga of the Gonzaga sustainability project.
