Consider this the summer that just keeps on giving! Next up, a great opportunity and excuse for you to paddle one last time this Sunday.. and best part, it’s for a good cause.
The first annual Plante’s Ferry Adventure Race (FPAR) is in honor of Antione Plante is THIS SUNDAY, September 18th. Proceeds will go toward field and facility maintainence of the Plante’s Ferry Park Soccer Complex. The Spokane Valley Jr. Soccer Association maintain the Plante’s Ferry Soccer Complex and are proud to organize this race. 20% of PFAR proceeds go toward the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Three elements of the Adventure Race:
–Kayak and Canoe – From Plante’s Ferry Park carry your water craft down to the river as a team. One at a time, paddle down stream to the Argonne Bridge to collect a TOKEN, then head back upstream. (4 mi.)
–Mountain Bike – From Plante’s Ferry Park, peddle along the beautiful Centennial Trail to Camp Sekani. Traverse the mountain bike park up to the top of Beacon Hill to collect your second TOKEN. Enjoy the exciting ride back down to the Centennial Trail and return to Plante’s Ferry Park. (14 mi.)
–Running – From Plante’s Ferry Park, run across the Centennial Trail bridge and head east to the Sullivan bridge and receive your final TOKEN! The race is on as you run back to the finish line. Participants under 14 years old can compete in this section of the race ONLY. (6 mi.)
Teams of 3 OR individuals may enter this adventure race. Teams have two options:
TEAM SPRINT –3 participants choose ONE element each, and participate relay style.
Your final time will be recorded when all 3 TOKENS are turned in at the Plante’s Ferry Park finish line. Participants under 14 years old can compete in the Running element of the relay ONLY.
TEAM EXTREME– participants compete in all three elements, one at a time, relay style
Team members must all use the SAME canoe or kayak – one at a time. The mountain bike leg of the race can be done on individual bicycles – one at a time. The final running portion of the adventure is done – one at a time. Your final time will be recorded when all 9 TOKENS (Team) are turned in at the Plante’s Ferry Park finish line.
SOLO — Your final time will be recorded when all 3 TOKENS are turned in at the Plante’s Ferry Park finish line.
