Your donation & support allows us to keep doing this work on behalf of the Spokane River…
Trash clean-up: The Spokane Riverkeeper, along with volunteers, does weekly trash clean-up along the river. We pick up whatever garbage we can while walking along the shore and floating down the river.
Toxins: A major toxin in the Spokane River is PCBs, a man-made compound that has been banned since the late 1970’s but still pollutes our river today. PCBs can have many negative impacts on animals, including cancer, effects to the reproductive and immune systems, and neurological and endocrine effects.
Agricultural & shoreline protection: The Spokane Riverkeeper strives to keep our river clean by monitoring and regulating agricultural runoff. Animal waste and chemicals from fertilizers contaminate the river when the shoreline is unprotected.
Fishery protection: Keeping the river clean is important for wild trout populations in the Spokane River.
